Solid Fuel/ Wood Burning
-
Because different wood burning devices have different rules for clearance around them, we ask that you call the home office and speak with our Inspector (Rick Pogatschnik) in regard to your plans. Many times it is easier to do it correctly the first time than to re-do it after you have installed it.
-
Please contact the home office for answers to installing new wood / solid fuel burning devices. Generally, we do NOT recommend placing outdoor burners within 50 feet of outbuildings.
Inspection Program
Elmdale Farmers Mutual maintains a Property Inspection Program to act as an extra set of eyes for your home or farm. See below to learn more about this effective yet easy risk management tool.
-
We take the approach that we are an extra set of eyes. We look for things that increase your chances of having a loss and provide suggestions on how to correct any issues. If we can prevent losses, it is better for you and Elmdale both.
-
In short, yes. Our commitment to you is that we act in a professional and courteous manner. Our main objective is to help you prevent loss.
-
There is no charge to you. However, there are some premium discounts available if you qualify.
-
In general, we find hazards in electrical wiring, wood heating systems, general maintenance and cleaning, difficult dogs, etc.
Often times, we discover things that are a hazard to you or others that you may not have noticed.
Many customers have no problems at all.
-
Elmdale Mutual has had an inspection program in place for many years. We have uncovered countless problems that would have resulted in a claim.
If we continue to prevent losses, we can keep your premiums as low as possible.
In addition to this, you may qualify for credit on your premium if the inspection is favorable, and corrections are done in a timely manner.
-
Our inspector is Rick Pogatschnik. He can be reached by contacting our office at 320-573-2151 or by calling his cell phone at 320-630-1686.
-
